In Sachen GVU

Nun mag der Eine oder die Andere mein Vorgehen für übertrieben halten, das ist es m.E. aber nicht. Die GVU ist für ihr (vorsichtig ausgedrückt) hartes Vorgehen gegen Urheberrechtsverletzer bekannt. Sie gehört zu der Fraktion, die wahrscheinlich am liebsten Schulkinder mit Handschellen von Schulhof abführen würden, weil sie eine gebrannte DVD getauscht haben. Wenn dieser Verein in meine Rechte eingreift, sehe ich es nicht ein, Fünfe gerade sein zu lassen.

And next to the photo, another headline reading “Named man is already dead.” The imputation is quite clearly that Assange’s actions have resulted in the man’s death, although in the story itself it makes it clear that he actually died two years ago.

And it was written by a perfect specimen of the new breed of journalist-commentator that will hopefully come to replace the old breed sooner rather than later, and which has already collectively surpassed the old guard by every measure that counts—for instance, not being forever wrong about matters of life and death.

Die beiden Alibis: Das Publikum will es. Und: Sie wissen ja nicht, wie schlimm das alles ist, seit es das Internet gibt. Jede Sekunde wird ein neues Ereignis “hochgezogen”, ungeprüft und dafür mit aller Dramatik, und das sieht mein Chefredakteur, und dann muss ich das auch machen. Die Treiber produzieren Getriebene und werden selbst zu Getriebenen. Wie der Finanzmarkt mit Geld und Schrottpapieren, so spekuliert der Meinungsmarkt mit Informationen und Gerüchten. Je riskanter desto höher die Aufmerksamkeit. Wer seinen Beruf noch als Instanz der Aufklärung versteht, leidet.
